Single National Entrance: NEET PG
MD MS admission in India is conducted through NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate), the single national-level entrance examination organised by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Qualifying NEET PG is mandatory for MD/MS courses in government, private, and deemed medical colleges across India.

NEET PG 2026 — Eligibility Criteria
MBBS Degree Requirement
Candidate must hold an MBBS degree or equivalent from a recognised university listed in the Indian Medical Register. Final year MBBS students appearing in their last professional exam are also eligible.
Internship Completion
Candidates must have completed or be undergoing a 12-month compulsory rotating internship (CRRI). The internship must be completed before joining the PG programme if allotted a seat.
MCI / NMC Registration
A valid permanent or provisional registration with the Medical Council of India (now NMC) or State Medical Council is mandatory for all candidates appearing in NEET PG 2026.
Attempt Limit & Age
There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET PG. There is also no upper age limit for appearing in NEET PG 2026, making it accessible for all eligible MBBS graduates regardless of age.
Minimum Qualifying Percentile
Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET PG: 50th percentile for General/EWS, 40th for SC/ST/OBC, and 45th for PwD (General category).
Nationality
Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals are eligible. Foreign national candidates must check individual college eligibility criteria as these may vary by institution.

NEET PG Counselling 2026 — Step-by-Step
NEET PG counselling is conducted by MCC for 50% AIQ seats and 100% deemed/central university seats. 4 rounds total — here’s the complete process.
Online Registration on MCC Portal
Qualified candidates must register at mcc.nic.in using a valid email ID and mobile number. Login credentials are sent via email/SMS. Candidates who registered in Round 1 need not re-register for Round 2. Visit educc.in → Click "PG Medical Counselling" Enter personal/academic details and upload documents Note and secure your login credentials
Payment of Counselling Fees
Candidates must pay registration and security deposit fees online via Net Banking / Debit / Credit Card after completing the registration form. Fee is partially refundable based on reporting and upgrading decisions.
Choice Filling & Locking
Choose preferred courses (MD/MS/Diploma) and colleges from the MCC portal. There is no limit on the number of choices. Choices can be added, removed, or reordered until the deadline. Lock choices before the deadline — choices auto-lock after the due date. Log in → Navigate to choice filling section Select colleges + courses from the dropdown list Arrange in order of preference (1st, 2nd, 3rd...) Review carefully and click "Lock Choices" Print a copy for reference
Seat Allotment Result
Seats are allotted based on NEET PG All India Rank, category, and choices filled. The allotment letter is released on the MCC portal. Candidates can Accept & Upgrade, Freeze, or Withdraw after allotment.
Reporting to Allotted College
After accepting the seat, candidates must report to the allotted college within the specified date with all original documents, pay the first-year tuition fee, and complete the joining formalities.
